Spirit Science 16, “The Shift of the Ages”

Here’s that new new Spirit Science that just dropped today. It’s about the buzzword and popular dinner table conversation of “2012.” As per usual, Spirit Science serves up the hot sauce information condensed and with some cool animations.  They also just reposted the following on-point and eloquent comment that one youtube viewer posted in response to the video:

‘we are already in every dimension. there is no shifting dimensions just shifting perspective.
all possible futures already exist. which one will YOU choose is the question.
life is a co creation. being present with your energy and what you truly feel like doing is the best thing you can do for yourself and the planet.
it is not our job to “fix” everything or “change” people it is our job to be ourselves in each moment doing what we truly feel.
this is how we attune the ego and higher self.’

One of the most frequently asked questions we get asked is “What do you think will happen with 2012?”. We thought the best way to shed light on the situation was simply to make a video about it! So without further ado, here is our 2012 video!

Louie Schwartzberg, “Gratitude,” TEDxSF

This is an incredibly moving TED Talk by award-winning cinematographer Louie Schwartzberg.  It is about welcoming every day with gratitude and full appreciation. The narration in the short video that Schwartzberg shares in his TED Talk is so beautiful I took the time to type it up, both because I wanted to provide the words for you to save and  re-read and because I wanted them for my own collection. You’ll want to hit the fullscreen button for this one. Wow.

“You think this is just another day in your life.  It’s not just another day.  It’s the one day that is given to you, today.  It’s given to you.  It’s a gift.  It’s the only gift that you have right now, and the only appropriate response is gratefulness.  If you do nothing else but to cultivate that response to the great gift that this unique day is, if you learn to respond as if it were the first day in your life and the very last day, then you will have spent this day very well.  Begin by opening your eyes and be surprised that you have eyes you can open; that incredible array of colors that is constantly offered to us for pure enjoyment.  Look at the sky.  We so rarely look at the sky. We so rarely note how different it is from moment to moment with clouds coming and going.  We just think of the weather, and even with the weather we don’t think of all the many nuisances of the weather.  We just think of good weather and bad weather.  This day, right now, has unique weather, maybe a kind that will never exactly in that form come again.  The formation of clouds in the sky will never be the same as it is right now.  Open your eyes. Look at that.

Look at the faces of people whom you meet.  Each one has an incredible story behind their face; a story that you could never fully fathom; not only their own story but the story of their ancestors. They all go back so far.  And in this present moment, on this day, all the people you meet, all that life of generations from so many places in the world, flows together and meets you here like a life-giving water if you only open your heart and drink.

Open your heart to the incredible gifts that civilization gives to us.  You flip a switch and there is electric light.  You turn a faucet and there is warm water and cold water and drinkable water.   It’s a gift in the world that millions and millions in the world will never experience.  So these are just a few of an enormous number of gifts to which we can open our hearts.  And so I wish you that you will open your heart to all these blessings and let them flow through you; that everyone whom you will meet on this day will be blessed by you, just by your eyes, by your smile, by your touch, just by your presence.  Let the gratefulness overflow into blessing all around you. And then it will really be a good day.”

Louie Schwartzberg is an award-winning cinematographer, director, and producer whose notable career spans more than three decades providing breathtaking imagery for feature films, television shows, documentaries and commercials.

This piece includes his short film on Gratitude and Happiness. Brother David Steindl-Rast’s spoken words, Gary Malkin’s musical compositions and Louie’s cinematography make this a stunningly beautiful piece, reminding us of the precious gift of life, and the beauty all around us.

As a visual artist, Louie has created some of the most iconic and memorable film moments of our time. He is an innovator in the world of time-lapse, nature, aerial and “slice-of-life” photography – the only cinematographer in the world who has literally been shooting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week continuously for more than 30 years.

Louie was recognized as one of the top 70 Cinematographers for the On Film Kodak Salute Series. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.

Louie is credited by many with pioneering the contemporary stock footage industry by founding Energy Film Library, a global company with a network of 12 foreign offices, which was acquired by Getty Images in 1997. Motion picture clients of his cinematic artistry include Sex in the City, The Bourne Ultimatum, Die Hard 4, Syriana, Crash, Men in Black and classics such as American Beauty, Koyaanisqatsi and E.T. among others.

Louie went on to found BlackLight Films, a creative production company specializing in producing original theatrical feature, large format films, HD and TV programming.

In 2004, BlackLight Films completed production of the theatrical feature film, America’s Heart &Soul, distributed theatrically by Walt Disney Pictures. In 2006, BlackLight Films completed a series of HD shorts, Louie Films, for the launch of Buena Vista Home Entertainment’s Blu-Ray DVD releases. In 2007, the company produced a 1-hour special, Chasing the Light, which aired nationally on PBS.

Past projects include the 35mm film Seasons of the Vine for Disney’s California Adventure Theme Park and a 26-half hour series, America!, for The Hallmark Channel.

Louie has won two Clio Awards for Best Environmental Broadcast Spot, an Emmy nomination for Best Cinematography for the Discovery Channel Special, Oceans of Air, and the Heartland Film Festival’s Truly Moving Picture Award for Walt Disney Pictures’ feature film release America’s Heart & Soul.

Louie completed production on a feature length nature documentary, Wings of Life, to be theatrically released worldwide, under Walt Disney Pictures’ new production banner, Disneynature. The film was released in France (March 2011) under the title Pollen and won the Roscar Award for Best Cinematography at the 2011 Wild Talk Africa Film Festival.

Louie spoke at the TED 2011 conference in Long Beach, CA and has been a regular presenter at the annual Bioneers Conference in San Francisco. Currently, Louie is in production with National Geographic to produce Hidden Worlds, a 3D Imax film.

QOD – David Lynch

“If you have a golf ball size Consciousness, when you read a book you will have a golf ball size Understanding, when you look out a golf ball size awareness and when you wake up in the morning a golf ball size Wakefulness.

But if you could EXPAND that Consciousness, when you read a book MORE Understanding, when you look out MORE Awareness and when you wake up MORE Wakefulness.

And there is an Ocean of Pure Vibrant Consciousness Inside Each One Of Us.”

-David Lynch

QOD – The XIV Dalai Lama

“After you recognize the nature of the mind as luminosity and knowing, stay with it. Using your powers of mindfulness and introspection remain in that state. If a thought comes, just look into its very nature, and the concept will lose its power and dissolve of its own accord. Sometimes, with exertion, you can prevent a thought from fully forming. More likely, though, when you reach this state of recognizing the basic, unaffected, unfabricated nature of the mind, thoughts will dissolve as they form, and even when they do come, they will not be powerful. Know that just as the waves of the ocean are made of water, thoughts are made of the luminous, knowing nature of the mind. And through continual daily practice, thoughts will weaken and disappear without any other exertion.”

-The XIV Dalai Lama

QOD – Alex Grey

“Share your presence with others, no boundaries, completely openly lovingly. Love is what makes us alive, that is why we feel so alive when we love. Service is being available to love. Life is the combustion of love. That we love ourselves here, that is the true magnificence in the mountains of being. We are constantly drawing the line between love and not love–enter into the Non-duality Zone, and all judgements dissolve in the Vast Expanse.”

QOD – Rumi, “The Guest House”

Quote of the Day

The Guest House

“This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.”
